Narges Mohammadi, an imprisoned Iranian human rights activist, was awarded the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize for her role in fighting for women’s rights in her home country, a year after Iran was roiled in nationwide protests against the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in police custody.
